Event Information

Punctual Python

Punctual Python In-Person

Event Description

The clocks get turned back an hour on Sunday, November 2 when Daylight Saving Time ends... but that doesn't mean we'll get to stop thinking about time!

Join us for a one-hour workshop to learn about the various tools Python provides to deal with time, inlcluding how it's represented, measured and managed. We'll go over how to convert between different time formats using the time, datetime and dateutil modules, how to account for local time zones when dealing with time data, how to estimate your code's execution time with tqdm, and how to insert pauses into your code with time.sleep().

Please note: The material of this workshop assumes some prior familiarity with Python, but the topics covered will not require in-depth knowledge of the language. For additional Python resources, please see the Introduction to Python research guide, which contains links to past Python workshop materials.
