Celebrating the Life of Myrlie Evers-Williams Reception In-Person
Please join us on September 25 at 4:15 p.m. for an opening reception for the exhibit, A Voice for Change: The Life of Myrlie Evers-Williams, in The Founders Room at The Claremont Colleges Library.
This exhibit spans six tumultuous decades in American history and highlights significant chapters in the campaign for civil rights and voting rights. Viewed through the lens of the life of Myrlie Evers-Williams, widow of civil rights activist, Medgar Evers, history comes to life through a rich archival collection of photographs, correspondence, publications, and artifacts. The exhibit is on view at the North Lobby Gallery and on the first and second floors of the Honnold side of The Claremont Colleges Library.
For the opening reception, we will be joined by:
- Janet Bishop, Dean of The Claremont Colleges Library
- G. Gabrielle Starr, Pomona College President
- Lorn S. Foster, Emeritus Professor of Politics at Pomona College
The evening will include refreshments and remarks on the extraordinary legacy in the name of justice and equality of Myrlie Evers-Williams. You will also be able to explore the exhibit alongside our knowledgeable staff.
