Says Who & So What? Establishing Authority & Credibility

How do you back up an argument? In what way do you establish credibility? What scholars have high impact in your discipline? Do the sources you reference lend weight to your thesis? In this workshop, we will seek to answer these questions by:

• Discussing the nature of authority and credibility in academic and media sources
• Analyzing features of Wikipedia that help determine information credibility and reference authority
• Examining citation tools in Web of Science and other methods of identifying high-impact sources

Pizza will be served, and you should bring or check out a laptop at the Honnold/Mudd Services Desk (2nd Floor).
